King Charles II presents and alternate history of the ascension of Prince Charles to the throne of the United Kingdom after the passing of her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Does the new King have the power to directly intervene in the making of his country's laws?  What would happen if he chose to intervene?  What does a country do when it's identity is threatened?  Could the nation and the royal family themselves maintain their identity if the King were to make such a choice?

Mike Bartlett explores these ideas with the familiar faces of Charles, William, Kate, Camilla, and Harry in a 'what if' style of play.  Written in blank verse, his play has the feel of a Shakespearian Tragedy in a 21st century context.  You will be transported to Westminster Cathedral, a London Night Club, Buckingham Palace, the House of Commons, the streets of London, and numerous other locations in this honest and heart wrenching drama of our current royal family.

Thomas Theatre at the University of St. Thomas has partnered with several Houston area professional actors to perform in tandem with the Drama Majors at the University of St. Thomas, as well as UST Alumni who now have successful careers in the theatre.
