An evening of dance by local choreographers Rebecca LaFon, Corinne Miller, Robbie Moore, Preeti Ramakrishnan, and Soren Rivero

Dance Source Houston is excited to present the 33rd edition of Mind The Gap on December 3rd, 2024, continuing the organization’s 20th anniversary season. Local choreographers Rebecca LaFon, Corinne Miller, Robbie Moore, Preeti Ramakrishnan, and Soren Rivero will all premiere new works. The program will feature a range of dance forms including Bharatanatyam, contemporary, and heels. 

Mind The Gap is a collaboration between Dance Source Houston and Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston providing choreographers with a performance platform and the opportunity to expand production, marketing, and audience development capacities. To date, Mind The Gap has supported over 135 dancemakers.

Meet The Artists

Rebecca LeFon was born in the Houston area but was raised in Washington, Texas and began dancing at the age of four. She has had the opportunity to train in several genres of dance including modern, ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop and more. Rebecca attended Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas and graduated in the Fall of 2017 with a Bachelor's degree in Dance Science. She was privileged to be presented as an Honor Undergraduate of the Dance Science Kinesiology Division by the Health & Kinesiology department at Texas A&M and performed in several student and faculty choreographed pieces during her time at TAMU as well as performed internationally. Rebecca moved to Houston in 2018 and danced with Ad Deum II dance company for two years. In 2022 she joined Open Sky Houston as a company member and in the Fall of 2023 she was delighted to serve as the Creative Director for the company. In the Fall of 2024, Rebecca founded Vessel Movement Co. - a nonprofit professional dance company created to unite her love of dance with her faith. Rebecca married her college sweetheart and is blessed to be the mom of 2 kids and enjoys merging her love of being a mother with her passion for dance and is excited to answer the Lord’s call to start Vessel Movement Company! 

Corinne Miller, director, was born and raised in the Houston dance community. She dedicated much of her career to Houston City Dance, where she performed with the professional company from 2016-2021. In addition to her freelance work with Dance Houston, she currently serves as the Dance Director at James Madison High School. Based in Houston, Texas, Unleashed Dance Company specializes in Modern, Jazz, and Contemporary dance, offering innovative performances that explore the full spectrum of movement. The company is dedicated to pushing artistic boundaries and fostering creativity in every work.

Robbie Moore grew up dancing from age six in Houston, Texas, where he attended the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In 2010, he was named Presidential Scholar in the Arts. Robbie graduated from the Juilliard School in 2014.  Robbie toured internationally with L.A. Dance Project, under the direction of Benjamin Millepied, from 2015-2017. In 2019, Robbie moved to Belgium to work for Eastman - Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, where he continues to collaborate. In Antwerp, he trained under Anna Rubau to become a certified True-Pilates instructor. Robbie worked as Resident Choreographer from 2020-21 and continues still as a Guest Artist with Houston Contemporary Dance Company. In 2022, he performed and toured with Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève. In 2023, he appeared in Iconoloclast’s commercial ad for Lady Gaga x Dom Pérignon directed by Yoann Lemoine. In June 2024, Robbie performed aboard the MS Europa 2 cruise ship in Norway for a one-night-only production by Alexander Ekman. He currently resides in Houston working as a freelance dancer, Pilates instructor, movement coach, and choreographer. 

Preeti Ramakrishnan is the artistic director of Shree Krishna Dance Academy, Sugar Land Texas. She started the dance academy in Oklahoma city in 2007, with a vision of exploring and promoting the Indian classical art form and have its recognition and visibility across the globe. She moved to Sugar Land Texas in 2012 and has been teaching students and performing as artist since then.

Soren Rivero (he/they) is a queer, Latinx dancer and poet based in Houston, Texas. He received his B.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Houston-Downtown in 2022, and has since been published in multiple literary journals including The Odessa Collective, The Bayou Review, and Public Poetry HABITS. Soren works as a Copywriter, performer, and instructs dance at The Delicate Rose School of the Arts and Diva Dance Sugar Land.

Join choreographers, dancers, and fellow patrons for a post-show reception on stage to celebrate the Mind The Gap 32 program artists and Dance Source Houston's 20th year.

$15 to $35

Ticketed income is equally split between the choreographers. Your ticket purchase, at any level, increases the amount of funds available to be redistributed directly to the artists.
